At Northwest, we are always looking for ways to support our team members and our communities. If there are new advances in safety technology, we adopt them. If a team member comes to us with a question, a concern or a request, we answer, address and act. The Northwest Way is about being proactive and doing things that will have a long-term, positive impact.
The Northwest Way is also about family. We are a family business, not just because we are family run, but because we consider our drivers, our administrators, and every last one of our team members, a part of the Northwest family. We believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give that family is the opportunity to pursue continuing education.
To that end, Northwest has historically offered up to $2,500 in scholarships to the relations of our team members. This year, we decided it was time to revamp our program. We took a good hard look at the needs of today’s students and their families, and we reimagined our scholarship program to better support those needs. Now, we are delighted to announce the launch of our new and improved initiative: The Northwest Education Fund.
The Northwest Education Fund
The Northwest Education Fund offers up to $25,000 in scholarships and bursaries to relations of team members pursuing academic interests in Canada or the United States. Each applicant can receive up to $5000 a year from that fund. This increase in available funds is a response to the changing times, and also an answer to the longer-term needs of students. This fund will allow us to not only support students in their first year, but to continue to support them in their second, third and fourth year, or until their academic career comes to a successful close.
“Education, in all its forms, is a powerful tool. With our new Education Fund, our hope is that we can open doors to new opportunities for the extended Northwest family.”
— Tom Blaney, Northwest Tank Lines CEO
We hope that this new Education Fund will better serve our team members and their families, and that ultimately, more students will be able to take advantage of our funding program. Whether in the form of a science or arts degree, a professional certification or vocational training, education is invaluable. Education helps us build better communities, and that is a goal we believe in.
We strongly encourage all our drivers and team members to talk to their families about The Northwest Education Fund. We have scholarships available for the fall, winter and summer semesters, so there are plenty of opportunities to apply.
