The Role
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales to join our team. This role requires a strategic thinker and exceptional relationship builder who will be
responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with key stakeholders and leading acquisition and partnership opportunities to drive revenue growth. The successful candidate will be experienced in navigating complex organizations in the trucking and/or logistics industry supporting NGL, Butane, Propane, Chemical and/or Sulphur
transportation. This role is based in Calgary.
Specific Accountabilities
Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities
- Conduct market research to identify potential customers in the identified growth markets (chemical and propane).
- Explore new products and industries that align with company strengths and market trends.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients through targeted outreach and networking.
Leverage and Strengthen Existing Relationships
- Analyze current customer relationships to identify those with untapped potential.
- Develop tailored strategies to strengthen weak customer relationships, focusing on increasing engagement and satisfaction.
- Coordinate with the Sales Coordinator to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Drive Acquisition and Partnership Opportunities
- Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets that complement the company’s growth strategy.
- Negotiate and facilitate partnership agreements to expand service offerings and market reach.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate new acquisitions smoothly into existing operations.
Enhance Industry Knowledge and Expertise
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.
- Provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders based on industry developments.
- Participate in relevant industry events and professional networks to build the company’s reputation and visibility.
Collaborate with Internal Teams
- Work closely with the Sales Analyst to ensure accurate and timely customer billing and rate preparation.
- Provide input to operational teams on customer requirements and service delivery expectations.
- Support the integration of new business into operational workflows to ensure flawless execution.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales or business development, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry. Additional experience in an operations role would be an asset.
- Proven track record of successfully developing new business and achieving sales targets.
- Leadership qualities to inspire and motivate others within the sales department.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to close deals and foster long-term relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with market research, negotiation, and acquisition processes. Analytical skills to assess market trends, customer needs, and business opportunities.
- A proactive and results-driven self-starter who takes initiative and is driven by achieving goals and targets.
- Persistent and determined, with a focus on finding solutions and overcoming obstacles.
- Able to think strategically about market opportunities and long-term business growth.
- Innovative and open to exploring new ideas, products, and industries.
